Since we were in the picture taking mode with Luke, we decided to go ahead and take the family Christmas photo. Again...deer in the headlights for Luke. He must freeze up for the camera. But, what a cute little deer he is!!

Picture with Santa
We took Luke to see Santa on Sunday. When we got there Santa was on a break and wouldn't be back for an hour so we walked around and when we got back it was time to stand in line and then he had a minor meltdown because he was tired of sitting in the stroller and just wanted to get out and run around. We finally made it to Santa and Luke's face said it all....slightly terrified. We got a decent picture, but what he really wanted to do was cry (which he didn't), so he gave us deer in the headlights instead.
Half of a Tree
We got the Christmas tree decorated but it's only halfway done....ha! This is our solution to keeping a one year old from tearing down all the decorations while still being able to enjoy a tree! Luke tries to reach up and grab the ornaments but he can't quite get to them, so he just leans against the tree. He thinks it's fun that it can hold him up (hopefully this is the case and we won't have a toppling Christmas tree with a toddler inside). So, the ornaments are still in place, but the limbs are always a little flat!
This is the first year that we've ever put up Christmas lights on our house. We take Luke out every night to look at them and he seems to like them. I think they look great and I'm excited we actually have lights up!
Putting up the Christmas Tree
We got the Christmas tree up and Luke had fun helping us put it up. He helped Daddy on the ladder and then helped decorate with pillows and building blocks and other micellaneous toys he thought should go on there. They didn't make the final cut, but at least he tried!
He had to be right on Justin's heels at every move.
What tree couldn't use a pillow on it? He's just using his innovative interior design skills.

The Rocking Doggy
So, as if we don't think he's already the cutest...he does one more thing to show us more. He really loves his blue rocking doggy. He's also become a little daredevil and likes to show us how brave he is by standing up on the doggy and rocking that way. You can also hear his new word, "Uh-Oh." Oh, and pay no attention to the extreme c-o-u-n-t-r-y accent of his mommy...and we wonder where he gets his country drawl "byyyyye-byyyyyye" from.
Some Cute Ones
We've captured some really great pictures of Luke lately. Here's just a few.
Luke has discovered the secret to healthy hair you'll all want for yourselves. Just rub in mashed potatoes daily and you too can have golden curly locks like him.
See? Like this...

Luke's Fun New Trick
Okay, so this is about the most funny, cutest, most hilarious thing Luke's been doing. He thinks he's funny and of course, as you can hear, we think he's hilarious. The kid is personality deluxe and never fails to entertain. That's Grandma Cindy in the foreground making sure he doesn't bust it (see...we do look out for him while he's entertaining :)
Halloween
Luke had a great Halloween! We went trick-or-treating with his Uncles Drew and Reid. Reid was the Joker and Luke was very scared of the mask. He couldn't stop looking at him and always had to have his eyes on where Reid was going. Luke went around the block and up to a few doors. I'm glad the weather was so mild so he could enjoy it and I wasn't worried about him freezing (like we usually are every Halloween).

Pre-Halloween
We just had to try Luke's Halloween costume on him. We wanted to make sure it fit so I could go get a backup just in case. Daddy got this outfit for Luke a long time ago at an airshow. He looks so great in it! And it fits perfectly. His little hat says Top Gun on it. Just call him Maverick...or Goose. Here's our future fighter pilot!
And of course, always in the dump truck.
Learning to Play Guitar
Luke loves his Uncle Kyle and always wants Uncle to hold him and play with him. Uncle was also teaching Luke how to play guitar. I think Luke's really getting it and will be playing on his own very soon! He likes to dance to Uncle's music and help push in the strings.

13 Months Old!
Luke is 13 months old today. He is getting so big and doing something new and cute every day. He has started climbing up on things (like his choo choo train and his rocking doggy) and then standing up, which makes him laugh...until he falls. He has also started climbing into his dump truck and then wanting mommy or daddy to pull him around in it. He also thinks that our dogs, Colby and Charlie, are fun and he likes to play with them outside and "throw" the ball to Colby. He also loves to dance now when music comes on and he will also spin around in circles. He's very entertaining.
Here's Luke getting ready to climb into his dump truck.
Whew! He's made it in and now trying to get the handle up. It's hard work.
Safe and sound ready to go for a ride.
He's just hangin' out now.
Just smiling big for the camera ready for the OU game with his jersey on.

Our First Blog Entry
This is our very first entry. I wish I would have been chronicling how Luke has grown since he was born, but now that he's one year old, this seems like as good a time as any!
We went to Santa Barbara, CA last weekend and it was wonderful! The weather was beautiful and the beach, of course, was excellent. Luke loves to run on the beach and watch all the people and the dogs that were out there.
Here is Daddy and Luke looking out at the Pacific.
Luke running in the sand
While we were there, a little bunny kept coming out to say hi to Luke. When Luke would run over to see him, he would run away, of course. Luke is trying to find him.

But here's another one where he got sooo close!
See the little bunny?
